Salve lovelies  Hello lovelies (Speaking Latin)

Did you know saving money is one the world most common New Year’s set goals?

And by February, 80% would have given up on that goal.

I’ve been in that category so many times trust me. Saving money seems like it’s so hard right? But really, it doesn’t have to be.

Trying a lot of different tips and tricks have really helped me save more money that I could have imagined and these are by far my favorite tips and tricks.

I believe if they worked for me then they’ll work for you too! ❤️

So let’s get started!

#1| Break Your Goals Down Into Smaller Ones

One thing I enjoy doing lowkey is setting goals. Much more better if they’re ambitious. I set goals for everything.

I believe part of my success for achieving what I set out to do is because, I break goals into smaller, easier to obtain goals.

So instead of saying I want to save 1,000$ or 100,000NGN, I would rather say 500$ or 50,000NGN.

This is a powerful money saving trick for actually making shit happen.

#2| Stock Up, When it’s On Sales/Or Go Thrift Shopping

Sale cycles usually run every 4-6 weeks.

That means if your favorite item is on sale then grab an extra while you can because chances aren’t that sale won’t happen until another few weeks. Thrifting is also not a bad idea, it’s helps to save a lot of money if you’re the type that follow trends.

This is a great tip for shopaholics like me. Lol!

#3| Make Saving Money Automatic

This is one of the easiest steps ever: set up an automatic transfer from your checking/current account to your savings account.

Ever heard someone say, CowryWise?

By automating your savings, you don’t give yourself time to even miss that money. You won’t even know it’s gone!

Pay yourself first and treat it like it’s another bill you’re paying.

Also, if you do it through a high-interest online savings account, it will be even since it’s 1) harder to get out and 2) you’ll be making good money on interest.

CowryWise is also a good way to help.

4| Use the 24-Hour Rule

“Let me think about it” is one of the best things you can say when it comes to saving money.

If you hit the pause button for at least 24-hours on spending impulses, it allows the rational side of your brain to think of more practical ways to spend that money (like getting out of debt or contribute to savings)

Also, beware of “deals” that are only good for a set amount of time – 20 minutes, 1 hour, or even 24 hours.

Marketers are smart and they use that as a way to get you locked in quickly, before allowing you time to mull it over.

5| Keep The Habit

It took you 5 months to Upgrade your Iphone, so instead of blowing that extra cash you now have, save it!

Consider it like making the payment to yourself instead!

This is a great way to implement the automatic money saving strategy from step 3

Besides, it’s money you got used to not having, so you won’t miss it anyway!

6| Practice a No-Spend Week

I actually didn’t know doing a no-spend week could be fun – until I actually tried it.

There are plenty of fun money saving challenges on Pinterest and if you pick one and regularly implement it – you’ll end up saving more money than you might think!

No spend challenges actually encourage you to become much more creative when it comes to saving money.

Or it’ll force you to cook something at home rather than going on a fast food run!

Little by little – these things add up!

7| Learn how to say “no” to expensive invites made by family and friends

Learn how to say “no” to activities that you know you can’t afford. Say “no” when your friend invites you to that expensive dinner, concert or any other activities that are outside of your budget. You can replace these with less expensive activities like picnics and free events. Lol!

8| Pick up side hustle

It’s almost necessary to have a side hustle these days. Life has become so expensive it’s important to have alternative sources of income to supplement your primary source of income.

This is a fact.

9| Never shop while you’re hungry

This sounds like a funny tip but believe me, it goes a long a way. Hunger can be a bit deceiving and makes you spend more than you can imagine. Instead, save the money.

10| Drink water

LMAO! Water is life! Why spend money on soda or coffee. I’ll rather drink water and save that 1.50$ or 100NGN daily. It would pay later.

HINT

Did you know that fantasizing your progress helps trick your mind into doing more?

One of the best (and most fun!) ways to save money is to print out a savings chart and keep track of it.
